Matcha Apple Pie
Matcha Apple Pie is a combination of a sweet, gooey apple wrapped in a golden and buttery crust made with Everyday Matcha by Bree Matcha. Pair it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and you have got yourself a warm and cozy dessert with a modern edge.
πIngredients
For the crust:
π 2 cups all-purpose flour
π 2 tbsp Everyday Matcha (sifted)
π 1 tbsp sugar
π Β½ tsp salt
π ΒΎ cup cold butter (cubed)
π 4β5 tbsp ice water
πFor the filling:
π 4 medium apples (peeled and sliced thin)
π ΒΌ cup brown sugar
π 2 tbsp white sugar
π 1 tsp cinnamon
π 1 tbsp cornstarch
π 1 tbsp lemon juice
π Pinch of salt
πInstructions
β¨ Make the crust:Β
π Take a large bowl, whisk flour, matcha, salt, and sugar.
π Add butter and mix with a pastry blender until crumbly.
π Keep on adding ice water 1 tbsp at a time until the dough just comes together.Β
π Divide into two, shape into discs, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
β¨ Prepare the filling:Β
π Mix sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, lemon juice, and salt. Toss well and set aside.
π Assemble: Roll out one dough disc, fit it into a pie pan, and fill with the apple mixture. Top with the second crust (or lattice design), seal edges, and cut small slits for steam.
π Bake: Brush with milk or melted butter. Bake at 180Β°C (350Β°F) for 45β50 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
π Cool: Let cool slightly before serving.
